It was a ridiculous scene as multiple chants ‘mono, mono’ (In English: Monkey), could be heard targeting Vinicius, no wonder they Brazilian seemed to be very pissed off.
Later in the game, he was given a straight red card in injury time after an altercation with Valencia players. Vini could be seen wiping his tears in frustration as the home crowd did not seem to stop the chant.
According to ESPN source from Brazil, the player’s entourage has offered him the possibility of leaving Real Madrid because of the racist insults he regularly receives in La Liga.
However, he is not considering leaving at this moment, although he is at his wit’s end.
Vini’s message from the Brazilian on instagram
His message could be read:
“The prize that the racists won was my sending off. It’s not football, it’s LaLiga.”
Following was his second message:
“It was not the first time, nor the second or the third,” he posted.
“Racism is normal in LaLiga. The competition thinks it’s normal, so the Federation and opponents encourage it. I’m so sorry.
“The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi, today belongs to the racists.
“A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and I love it, but accepted to export the image to the world from a racist country.
“Sorry for the Spaniards who do not agree, but today in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists.
“And unfortunately with everything that happens on a weekly basis, I have no way to defend it. I agree.
“But I am strong and I will go all the way against the racists.
“Even if I am far away from here.”
