Barcelona to secure Cubarsi
The 17-year-old Cubarsi has broken into the Barca first team and has been impressive so far this season.
Cubarsi even played the full 90 minutes in the recent UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spaniard’s stellar performances have garnered interest from Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City.
However, Mundo Deportivo reported that both Barcelona and Cubarsi are continuing to negotiate the terms.
Still, both parties have the intention of reaching an agreement soon.
The report states that the club plans to sign the defender to a new five-year deal when he turns 18 in January 2025.
Barca coach Xavi Hernandez continues his plan of investing in their young players, including Cubarsi
“Pau Cubarsí will mark an era at the club,” Xavi said.
“He’s a crucial player for us and he’s 17! He looks older for the way he plays”. “I’m really proud to see the team competing like this.”
Barca and Cubarsi will return to Spain on Tuesday when they face PSG in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
