Getafe CF Summary
Officially founded in 1983, Getafe Club de Fútbol SAD, or Getafe CF, have a history far longer than that, with iterations of the club dating back as far as 1923. They presently stage home matches at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
In their current lineage, Getafe have been at La Liga in 17 of 18 seasons starting in 2004-05. The only season they were not at the Primera División was in 2016-17.
Domestically, their other achievements include a runner up finish in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 Copa del Rey tournaments. Over in Europe, their best performance was back in in 2007-08, when they reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup. Most recently, they went as far as the round of 16, doing so at the 2019-20 UEFA Europa League.
José Bordalás has been the Azulones’ longest tenured manager, serving from 2016 to 2021. Togolese defender Djené is the club’s designated captain for the 2021-22 season.
