La Liga week ten recap: Draws galore in eventful week 

In a weekend that had El Clásico in the schedule, four matches ended up with no one winning in this week’s La Liga action. Here is our brief recap of these fixtures. 

Granada settle for draw against ten-man Osasuna 

Ángel Montoro found himself the unlikely hero, scoring at the 90th minute in a topsy-turvy match that had his side salvaging a 1-1 deadlock. 

Ezequiel Ávila’s foray in the final minute of the first half was supposed to be a good omen for the home club. However, fortunes changed at the turn when José Ángel was thrown out with 16 minutes to go in the contest. 

Playing with a disadvantage the rest of the way, Osasuna found their lead and impending victory nipped by Montoro just as the match was heading into stoppage time. 

Valencia, Mallorca work to a 2-2 tie 

Valencia pulled off an unlikely feat in front of their supporters, managing to slot two goals late into injury time to secure a 2-2 count against Mallorca. Gonçalo Guedes and José Gayà each scorched past the keeper five minutes apart, the latter at the eighth minute of stoppage time. 

Having a man up advantage proved to be the turning point for Los murciélagos when Lee Kang-in was sent off at the 55th minute. Before this, everything was going Los Piratas’ way with Ángel Rodríguez opening the scoring at the 32nd minute. This was then followed by a Mouctar Diakhaby own goal six minutes later. 

Frustration crept into Rodrigo Battaglia, as he was shown the red card 100 minutes into the match. 

Benedetto saves day for Elche 

Elche had a proverbial sigh of relief, thanks to Dario Benedetto, who scored the equalizing goal at the 84th minute and their match against RCD Espanyol ending up level at 2-2. 

After Lucas Boyé initiated with a 23rd-minute conversion, Manu Morlanes and Raúl de Tomás took the upper hand for Espanyol with twin goals at the 51st and 52nd minutes. 

‘El Pistolero’ fires for Atlético in standoff with La Real 

Luis Suárez delivered once more for the reigning domestic league champs, completing a brace and making sure Atlético Madrid were able to take a point against Real Sociedad. 

Suárez’ strike at the 61st minute and penalty make at the 77th negated Alexander Sørloth’s and Alexander Isak’s charges to the mouth of the goal at the seventh and 48th minutes, respectively.
