La Liga Recap : Week 14

Barcelona climbing back up

FC Barcelona sank Espanyol, 1-0, in their Derbi Barceloní meetup in this weekend’s La Liga.

Memphis scored on a penalty at the 48th minute to secure the victory for Barcelona. They have clambered back up to seventh with 20 points, three points away from continental contention and ten points behind new table leader Real Madrid.

Los Blancos retook the top spot with a 4-1 silencing of Granada coupled with a 0-0 draw between Real Sociedad and Valencia.

Marco Asensio and Nacho quickly made it 2-0 after 25 minutes. Colombian Luis Suárez cut the gap back with a goal at the 34th minute.

Real Madrid responded with two more goals on the second half, courtesy of Vini Jr (56’) and Ferland Mendy (76’). It did not help that GRA went down to ten men on the field when Monchu got red-carded at the 67th minute.
