Real Sociedad’s Kubo rejects Saudi offer
Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo recently rejected an offer to take his talents in Saudi Arabia.
According to Spanish news outlet Relevo, the Japanese ace received a €40 million contract offer from Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s current team.
The Riyadh-based club is reportedly willing to shell out €60 million in order for Sociedad to release him.
However, Sociedad and Kubo were not interested in accepting the lucrative deal.
Interestingly, Al Nassr was the second team to express interest in Kubo’s services.
During the 2023 summer transfer window, the 22-year-old received a handsome offer from Al Hilal, Neymar’s current team.
Al Hilal reportedly sweetened the deal with a four-year, €160 million contract for Kubo.
Nonetheless, Kubo is enjoying a great season with Real Sociedad.
Dubbed the “Japanese Messi”, Kubo has tallied six goals and four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Kubo first joined Real Madrid in 2019 but only played for the club’s U-19 squad.
Real Madrid then loaned out Kubo to Mallorca, Villarreal, and Getafe before settling with Sociedad in 2022 on a permanent deal.
