The origins of Santiago Bernabeu

Let’s go back to 1943 when Santiago Bernabeu took the reins as president of Real Madrid. During his term, Bernabeu launched one of his major projects — the construction of a new stadium for Real Madrid. Also called Estadio de Chamartín, the stadium was inaugurated on December 14, 1947.
