Update on Frenkie de Jong’s saga with rumors joining Man United
Frenkie de Jong is reported to look for a reunite with his former manager Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this Summer.
Multiple reports are talking about the possible deal for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, who may be on his way to Old Trafford.
However, according to the trusted Fabrizio Romano, there have been no changes on De Jong deal.
Man United’s offer and Barcelona’s stance
While Man United insists on signing the Dutch star, Barca is still holding firm on negotiation.
The Italian journalist stated that, the Catalan club won’t take any offer less than the 85m euro guaranteed fee.
The first official offer from Red Devils was 60m euro plus 10m add-ons, and was turned down last week.
De Jong himself is reported to prefer staying at Barcelona. The 25-year-old midfielder smiled and refused to comment last time when asked about joining with Ten Hag at Man United.
De Jong has always been important at Barca since his 85-million-euro move 3 years ago from Ajax.
Barca, however, may be reluctant to let their key player go for a reasonable price, as they are badly in debt.
Man United’s replacement in case they can not seal De Jong’s signature
Man United is desperate to have a quality midfielder, after letting Paul Pogba leave as free agent.
In case they miss out on De Jong, another big name is in the queue: Christian Eriksen.
Another trusted source, David Ornstein from the Athletic, confirmed that Man United has made an offer to the former Spurs’ man.
Eriksen has been in his best form since joining Brentford, but the 30-year-old now is a free agent after the short contract ended last season.
Man United used to chase after Eriksen, before he left for Inter Milan.
