Ville Koski gave Alavés the lead in the 18th minute, but Racing responded before halftime when Yassir Zabiri equalised in the 38th minute.
Zabiri struck again in the 53rd minute to complete the comeback and give Racing the lead. The hosts were reduced to 10 men late on when André Almeida was sent off in the 89th minute, but they held on for the three points.
