Ancelotti confirms Guler will stay

The announcement came after Guler scored the winning goal in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Friday.

The 19-year-old netted the goal in the 29th minute, slipping the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Alex Remiro.

Guler started for Ancelotti’s side despite only making six league appearances.

“Arda will be a very important player for us in the future,” Ancelotti said, when asked about the Turkey international. “There’s no doubt that he stays here next year.”

Güler joined Madrid on loan from Fenerbahce last July.

However, his meniscus injury and two muscular problems affected his game fitness throughout the season.

The Turkey international has now scored twice in LaLiga in 99 minutes played on the pitch.

He first got his first goal in March against Celta Vigo.

“[Güler] has extraordinary quality,” Ancelotti said. “He has talent, he has a gift. He’s worked hard … he’s training very well, but he’s very young.”

“Little by little he’ll be more involved in this squad. He’s scored the most goals per minutes played, that’s the gift he has.”
