Atletico Madrid switch to traditional crest

The iconic emblem now prominently features the giant red-and-white flag at the Civitas Metropolitano.

Atlético stated that the official return of the club’s crest will take place on July 1.

“The club pays special tribute to the thousands of enthusiasts who longed for the return of the 1947 crest.”

“The transformation process is challenging and is expected to take a few months to fully implement but it is already showing up in the most iconic places.”

In addition, the club Atlético also shared a video on their official social media re-unveiling the original logo.

“Sometimes, the heart has reasons that marketing doesn’t understand,” the video concludes.

“The club chose this story from hundreds of testimonials received from fans expressing their passion for our club in different ways and with various experiences,” Atlético explained.

“The philosophy of Atlético de Madrid is to embrace and remember its history while always looking to the future. A new era is here with the return of the previous crest, which in just a month will officially represent us.”

Atletico fans plays a huge factor

Atlético decided to revert to their old emblem after fans objected to the change.

Nearly 78,000 of the club’s more than 138,000 members voted last year to bring back the previous crest.
