It’s only hours after Eden Hazard is confirmed to leave the club that fans are stunned to see such a living statue departing.
Benzema leaves Real Madrid after almost two decades
The French talisman will leave the club after an incredible 14-year spell that saw him win every title possible with Los Blancos.
He is among the best players in the history of the club, having registered 518 goals and assists in 647 games in all competitions, won 24 trophies.
Real Madrid statement says he has “earned to make the decision he prefers over his future”.
It could be understood that Benzema has thoroughly considered that he could not longer provide the best for the club, despite having a option to extend the contract until 2024.
He is Madrid’s second-highest goalscorer ever who also has most assists. The Ballon d’Or in 2022 is a well-deserved award for his probably best season in the decorated career.
With the 36-year-old departure, this will mark the official end of an era for what used to be best trio Madrid ever had with Benzema – Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Benzema’s next club
Multiple sources have pointed out that Benzema has already accepted the huge offer from Saudi Arabia’s side Al-Ittihad which reaches €400m (£346m/$439m) over two years.
The club is playing in the same league that his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is currently competing.
A big summer for Madrid ahead
Within 24 hours, Madrid have parted ways with a string of players, including Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, Eden Hazard and maybe not last, Benzema.
Next one to be leaving could be Jesus Vallero, in a project would see the club welcoming fresh faces to prepare for the new season ahead.
