La Liga 2022/23 champions Barca officially announced that they attempted to bring Messi back but the Argentinian legend turned down as he wished to join Inter Miami and moved away from ‘the spotlight and the pressure he has been subject to in recent years’.

As Blaugrana is activating plan B after the negotiations to bring back Messi has failed, Neymar raised his voice and wishes to come back and help the club.

According to Catalan-based Sport, Barca would love to have a player who can create the different or decide the game, as Messi or Neymar used to do at the club.

Neymar, who joined Barca in 2013 and won the 2014/15 historic treble, actually suits what the La Liga side has been looking for.

He has a contract to 2027 with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, but has been rumored to be finding a way out.

However, Xavi revealed that he was surprised to hear about his former teammate and made it clear that the Brazilian is not in his plan.

“It’s a surprise what is being said about Neymar. In theory he is not in the planning. I appreciate him very much but there are other priorities. The sporting area already knows all the names”, the manager said in his interview with ‘Jijantes’.

Xavi’s plan to defend La Liga champions next season

Per Sport, Xavi’s priority is a second striker, a midfielder and a wide player.

Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati have not been performing at their best and Xavi will not count on the duo.

With Sergio Busquets left the club after more than a decade, names like Ilkay Gundogan or Bernardo Silva have been linked with Barca.
