The former Bayern Munich striker’s contract with Barca only runs until the end of the current season. Despite his age, the Polish’s quality and class in hunting goals are second to none, and there has been a lot of interest from elsewhere.

However, according to sources in Spain, Lewa has turned down a lucrative offer in Saudi Arabia and opted to stay at Barca, at least for another season.

Robert Lewandowski’s Barcelona situation

Lewandowski joined the Catalan side in 2022 as a free transfer and immediately impacted his new side.

Barca clinched their first La Liga title in four years in Lewandowski’s debut season, having scored 23 league goals in 33 in all competitions.

While his second season has yet to go exactly as he wanted, Barca made it to the European competition quarter-final after years since Lionel Messi left.

Having scored only two goals in 11 games before the turn of the new year, it’s understandable to hear rumors that he wanted a getaway.

Lewandowski has been consistently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia to join fellow veteran superstars Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. Sport has reported receiving an offer that would ‘triple’ his current salary at Barca to move to the Middle East.

Despite the lucrative offer, the report further states that Lewandowski has turned the contract to see out the third and final year of his current deal at Barcelona.

What did Lewandowski say about staying at Barca

Speaking recently, the striker hinted at his intention to stay at Barca by insisting that he was keen to play at Camp Nou again—the stadium is currently undergoing major renovations.

“It is one of the objectives to play again at Camp Nou,” Lewandowski confirmed. “It’s a magical stadium, a magical field, and yes, of course, we have to wait ten months I think. In the new season, almost at the end of the year, we will be on the field and we will be able to play with all our people and with that atmosphere.

“I feel very good in the city, my family too, very happy and happy. I am happy in the club, but also in everything else.”

In February, Lewandowski won M88 Mansion x La Liga Player of the Month title for his sublime scoring-goal form.
