Loic Bade managed to get the better of Musah in an exchange and capitalized on Moriba’s mistimed clearance, showcasing rapid reactions to slot a shot past the Valencia goalkeeper.

The goal was checked by VAR as it appeared that Bade elbowed Moriba in the lead-up to it, but the referee ended up letting it stand – much to the fury of the Valencia supporters.

Valencia fans were even more angered by another penalty shout that got overturned sometime after the second goal. The hosts seemingly got a lifeline after striker Marcos de Sosa was tugged down in the area and the referee awarded them a penalty. However, VAR demanded that he look at the monitor – after which he canceled the penalty – much to the fury of the fans and players.

Baraja’s team was fumed as they had penalty call that ruled out by VAR, as Fernando’s arm hit the ball inside the area. Referee Del Cerro Grande decided it was not a spot-kick after VAR review.

Other highlights

Atletico Madrid sealed their sixth consecutive La Liga 2022/23 win, thanks to a brace by Antoine Griezmann against Almeria.

The French talisman celebrated his 450th game for Los Colchoneros in style, scored 11 league goals this season and has now had 10+ goals in nine different Spanish top-flight seasons.

However, his former club Barcelona could not earn three points to distance themselves from second-place Real Madrid.

Xavi’s side had their second league game ended in a 0-0 draw, this time was at Getafe.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos beat Cadiz with two second half goals in four minutes, by Spanish duo Marco Asensio and Nacho Fernandez.

The victory at Nuevo Mirandilla could not give Carlo Ancelotti’s side more title hope, but it cut short the gap with Barca to 11 points atop of the league standings.
