Notable results of MD22

That’s why Carlo Ancelotti’s side was struggling, but still managed to press on Barcelona in the title race.

The capital’s 2-0 victory meant that the Catalan club must not slip against Cadiz, who they failed to beat in the previous season of La Liga.
Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Sergi Roberto were among the best performers of the Blaugrana as they cruised past the Andalusia while keeping another clean sheet.

Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal to help Colchoneros beat Bilbao at home and put pressure on 3rd place Sociedad.
Two newly-promoted sides Girona and Almeria created a 8-goal fest during MD22.
Striker Valentín Castellanos got the hosts going in the eighth minute. Ukraine forward Viktor Tsygankov, who joined from Dynamo Kyiv in January, doubled the lead in the 34th and Girona never looked back. Rodrigo Riquelme and Javi Hernández made it 4-0 before halftime.
Iván Martín and Cristhian Stuani added two more goals for Girona in the second half, while Largie Ramazani and El Bilal Touré scored for Almeria.
The League standings after MD22
Atletico is digging their way back to the league’s top three but El Cholo Simeone’s side has not been consistent enough so far.
No changes up front as the summit remained with 8-point gap between Xavi’s side and Ancelotti’s side. Meanwhile, Atletico is chasing after La Real, with another win can potentially see Los Colchoneros temporarily taking the 3rd place.
Real Betis is not far from a top-four position with 37 points.
The bottom three group includes Valencia, who has been in deep crisis with five consecutive defeats, Getafe and Elche.
Girona who thrashed Almeria by scoring six goals at home, remained in 11th place. With 33 goals after 22 games, the modest club from northeast Spain has the third most potent attack in the 20-team competition. Only Real Madrid (44) and Barcelona (43) have scored more.
